From the mouths of traveling PDR Techs, we've heard one thing over and over: That traveling is pretty much the biggest perk of the job. Going places, seeing the sights, experiencing something different from day to day. Of course, the life of a PDR Tech isn't exactly one big vacation, but if the opportunity is there, why not take advantage? Stay an extra night to make time for fun, or bring the family and let them see the sights on their own during the day, and meet up with you for a couple of hours before bed. Even if you are traveling alone, and without much free time left, just taking a few hours one evening can be a refreshing way to enjoy your job more.

Staying Healthy in Hotels

The most valuable tool you have is your health! You need to be at your best health in order to perform your job to the best of your ability. The lifestyle of a mobile PDR tech can be a harsh one. It’s tough living on the road and sleeping in a different bed for months worth of nights per year, or, more? That said, sleeping in all of those different beds night after night makes you far more likely to pick up bugs, colds, and other sickness. Realistically, you aren't always in luxury accommodations out there, so, here's a few tips about hotel rooms, to help you stay healthy and work hard!

Eating Healthier on the Road

Typical freeway fare includes fast food, microwave-ready service station options, bags of chips, and lots of sodas. These foods are almost always loaded with fats, lots of calories, and not much valuable nutrition. Eating just junk food for a couple of days (or more) can leave you feeling fatigued and crabby, and you won't perform as well.

With a little bit of effort and willpower, you can navigate your way around the junk food and maintain a much healthier diet while on the road. You’ll feel healthier, more alert, less tired, more productive and have a lot more fun.
